The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched several initiatives under the National Green City Mission, aimed at promoting sustainable urban planning, reducing carbon footprint, and increasing green cover in cities. The mission seeks to create 100 green cities across the country, with a focus on waste management, renewable energy, and green transportation.
In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched a door-to-door waste segregation drive, encouraging residents to separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. The initiative aims to reduce the city’s waste disposal burden and create a cleaner, healthier environment.
